Swimming is only for the very hardy in autumn, but it is still a great time to get out those buckets and spades and hit the beach. Sandcastles and collecting rocks and shells soon builds up an appetite so bring a picnic or head to one of the many eateries along our seafront and along the Quays.
After lunch head to the fabulous Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum in Bournemouth to explore the fascinating history and many incredible artefacts on display. Or for something more active swing by for a round of mini golf in the great outdoors at Smugglers Cove Adventure Golf.

For an interesting day out, Christchurch has much to offer from the beautiful Quay to the Norman House and castle ruins.
Admire the architecture of Highcliffe Castle, drop into the tearoom there and make a day of it. Enjoy their beautiful beach and grounds or take a stroll through Steamer Point Nature Reserve to Mudeford. Don’t miss the wonderful views across Christchurch Bay to the Isle of Wight.
Explore Christchurch and beyond to the New Forest. Wrap up with an extra layer and enjoy a wonderful long forest walk as the colours of autumn rain down with reds and golds of falling leaves flutter down, soak up the last of the sun and relax.
There is also plenty to keep the whole family interested in Poole at the beautiful Poole Park with a boating lake, a mini ride-on train and two children’s play parks. Why not head along the historic Poole Quay, follow the cockle trail or take a boat trip? Less than an hour west you can discover the stunning Purbecks and the Jurassic Coast with many amazing locations that really come alive this time of year.
