It’s time for jumpers and boots to make their way out of the depths of the wardrobe, embrace the shortening days, cooler air and get cosy in East Yorkshire.
Autumn is one of the loveliest times of the year to explore East Yorkshire’s walking trails and coastal paths. The Walking East Yorkshire Festival takes places each September and offers nine days of great walks, exploring every corner of the region, from the heritage coast at Bempton to the rolling valleys of the Yorkshire Wolds, and the mighty Humber estuary.
With the changing of the season and the falling of the leaves, few places touch the beauty of Danes Dyke, a 148 acre nature reserve on Flamborough headland.
Some of the woodland’s paths are lined with horse chestnut trees, visit in September or October and the floor is carpeted with conkers! Here you’ll find room to breathe, surrounded by mountains of golden leaves and a canopy of majestic, towering trees. A walk in the late afternoon or evening with an amble to the shore offers dramatic Autumn skies, as the sun lowers over Bridlington Bay and the waves crash in.
Chilly coastal walks offer the perfect excuse to indulge in a hot chocolate. Try Ruby Soho in Bridlington, who offer a feast of flavours and always ‘go extra’ on the toppings! Find your perfect hot chocolate cafe spot in East Yorkshire.
