There’s nothing better than having something to look forward to, so why not squeeze in an impulsive break before we head into the rush of the festive season? You’ll find plenty of great value accommodation, vast empty sands and cosy pubs and cafes to reward those seafront walks.

Get ready to fall into autumn! This is a magical time to witness nature’s rhythms, the changing light and cooler temperatures trigger huge bird winter migrations. Head to the coast for the best places to see them, not least East Yorkshire’s Spurn Point, Portland Bill in Dorset or Blakeney Point in Norfolk.

June’s scorching heatwave was perfect for cooling dips, water sports and beach barbecues and with festivals and fairs in abundance, it’s easy to make the most of leisurely evenings - so soak up the sun’s rays by the sea and grab a happy boost of serotonin!

It might not feel quite like the lazy days of summer just yet but chill out - we’re heading for the summer solstice, Thursday 20 June! So, let’s look forward to longer days strolling the sands, taking your first dip or exploring more of the coast path.
