Firestone bay is a small pebble beach to the West of Plymouth Sound located next to Devil’s Point.

Firestone Bay provides great views of Mount Edgcumbe, Stonehouse peninsula and Drake’s Island.

Connected to the popular Royal William Yard via an historic archway through the sea wall is a popular spot for swimmers, snorkelers and paddleboarders, with areas marked with yellow buoys while the nearby tidal pool offers an area for people wanting to just dip their toes in. 

Popular with families, the tidal swimming pool is a shallow pool that is topped up with fresh sea water every time the tide comes in.

In the summer the water is often much warmer than the sea itself. Great for swimmers and little paddlers, there is a gentle sloped entry into the pool which at its deepest is around 1 - 1.5m.
