Set at the very heart of Devon’s English Riviera, the town was a relatively minor settlement until the mid-19th century, when the introduction of the railway greatly improved transport connections and helped Torquay become a major UK holiday resort.  It is particularly well known for its spectacular coastline and world class local fish and seafood.
